Apologies to Neckbeard. Never Again Shall I Mock You
Admit it. We owe Neckbeard an apology. The collective bloggerrazi needs to swallow its pride and admit its mistake. Don't deny it. Sure, the pictures are legendary. No one denies his boozing abilities and his occasional flashes of potential skills -- with the ladies. But none of us ever took him seriously as a quarterback. OK, at least I didn't. Maybe it's time to start?
Give some props to Josh McDaniels and his playcalling. Credit is certainly due to The Beast, who continues to earn the nickname. But, still, one can no longer disregard Orton and unilaterally declare his overwhelming mediocrity. Sure, he wasn't a fantasy stud in the Windy City. That said, he went 21-12 as a starter. Now, he's helped lead Denver to an impressive 6-0 start. His quarterback rating prior to tonight's Monday night affair ranked 9th in the NFL nestled between Brady and Ryan (97.4). Not bad company...
And while Brady likely upped his numbers with that little six TD pass performance, Orton's 20-29 for 229 and two touches ain't nuthin' to sneeze at neither. So, on behalf of all those mean and spiteful bloggers, or just me, apologies for always thinking you were just a punchline and not to be taken seriously as an NFL quarterback. And for thinking the Cutler trade was going to be an absolute disaster for Denver. And for laughing at your apparent inability to do anything beyond "manage the game"...and for...
From now on, I will associate you with more than merely a bottle of Jack Daniels - which is saying something. Kyle Orton and the Denver Broncos are 6-0. Totally saw this one coming, particularly after that dominant opening day performance against the Bengals.
