Forget Kobe or Lebron, Apparently Eddie Najera is the League's MVP

As someone in the business of marketing, I got to give a hat tip to whoever is in charge of hyping up Eduardo Najera. That guy (or gal) deserves a HUGE raise.

If you're like me and have watched the Nuggets a few times over the past couple weeks (they seem to be on national TV at least twice a week), you had to have noticed too. According to the commentators, Eddie is the most valuable player on the Denver Nuggets. He is the one member of George Karl's team that is untradeable.

You simply cannot measure the value of his defense...his rebounding...those intangible "hustle plays"...and, now, he can kill you from three! Ladies and gentlemen, Eddie Najera is like Eli Manning and his Citizen Eco-Drive watch. That's right, he's UNSTOPPABLE.

OK, back to the world of reality which is not currently inhabited by those calling the games on either ESPN, ABC or TBS. I like Eduardo Najera. He's a nice player. Great effort guy, probably wonderful in the locker room and is always in those NBA Cares commercials doing nice things in the community. I get it.

That said, can we please stop referring to this guy as if he's a perennial All-Star who's mere presence elevates a team to a different stratosphere? If you listen to the folks with the headsets, and take their word as gospel, Najera is the centerpiece of the Denver Nuggets. Let's all settle down, folks. I'm willing to discuss Eddie as the greatest Mexican-born player in NBA history, but that's about it.

On a side note, this Denver Nuggets team is on a path to nowhere in terms of the postseason. Not sure what it is...but they just never look "together" out on the floor. Add to it that Kenyon Martin is half the man he once was and it looks like a first-round exit at best for 'Melo and AI.

He's the greatest athlete to come out of Mexico since Jose Luis Rivera, who was never lauded by announcers in quite the same manner.
